GMT semi-finals wrap: Premiers win through

Following their minor premiership triumph, Leichhardt Saints A continued their winning ways, moving through to the Grand Final against Hurlstone Park. In the other clash Concord JSC scored seven times in an emphatic win, With coach David Figg noting afterwards how finals football lifts teams, and Concord will now face Hurlstone Park for the second Grand Final spot.

Leichhardt Saints A 1-0 Hurlstone Park Wanderers

A dramatic finish saw Leichhardt Saints A continue their fine form in the Grace Martin Trophy. A 93rd minute goal from Emily Farrington sent the bench into raptures. Farrington had been in good form this season, and made it 11 goals to her name in the 2023 campaign. Saints A will now be watching Sunday’s game with eager eyes to see who they play in the Grand Final, and the team is looking to go one better after falling to Concord JSC in the Grand Final in 2022.

 

Concord JSC 7-1 Leichhardt Saints B

Concord JSC eased past Leichhardt Saints B In the minor semi-final. The playing surface was great for finals football amd Chelsey Johnson was on fire once again opening the scoring in the 4th minute. Alana Angelis soon doubled the lead before Johnson got her brace. Jasmine Seargent pulled one back for Leichhardt Saints B, but it was an uphill task at half-time down 3-1. Johnson was not done yet, scoring two more in the second half, while goals from Arzu Tasdemir and Ellen Wlodarczyk then ensured the comprehensive victory. Concord will now face Hurlstone Park Wanderers for a spot in the decider against Leichhardt Saints A.
