FOOTBALL CANTERBURY ACHIEVES HISTORIC 19,000 PLAYER MILESTONE FOR 2024 WINTER SEASON

Football Canterbury is proud to confirm a monumental achievement with a record-breaking 19,000 players registered for the 2024 Winter Season. This significant milestone not only reaffirms football's status as the most popular participation sport in Australia but also reflects the tremendous influence of recent global events on local enthusiasm for the game.

 

Bolstered by the electrifying performances of the Matildas and the excitement generated by the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2023, Football Canterbury has experienced an unprecedented surge in interest and participation.

 

The success of the Matildas has not only captured the hearts of football fans nationwide but has also inspired a new generation of players within the Football Canterbury community.

 

"With 19,000 players joining us for the 2024 Winter Season, Football Canterbury is proud to celebrate this historic milestone," said Nick Kambounias, Chairman of Football Canterbury.

 

"This achievement is a testament to the dedication and passion of our volunteers, coaches and administrators who contribute tirelessly to the growth and success of football in our community.

With 19,000 players and in excess of 3,000 officials and volunteers taking the field each weekend, Football Canterbury is excited to see the game continue to go from strength to strength.
