GMT/BBC Wrap: Goals galore

Plenty of goals in the Grace Martin Trophy as Lorna Arkell enjoyed netting a brace for Hurlstone Park Wanderers, while Marrickville Red Devils and Balmain DFC played out a thriller in the Bill Brackenbury Cup.

Grace Martin Trophy

Balmain DFC 1-5 Hurlstone Park Wanderers

A Lorna Arkell brace helped Hurlstone Park Wanderers to another win this season while Stephanie Kontakos also continued to bag more goals to her name. Elise Crimmins managed to get a consolation goal on the hour mark, but Rachael Watson and Maree Parasidis ensured a comprehensive win for Hurlstone Park Wanderers.

 

Leichhardt Saints B 3-2 Strathfield FC

An intense game saw Strathfield FC go down away as Alexandra Georgopoulos gave them the lead after 20 minutes. It was soon cancelled out by Natashja Eyles who equalised which left the game delicately poised at half-time. Maya Robertson and Zoe Lindhout then scored for Leichhardt Saints B to give them a dangerous lead. Isabella Azzopardi pulled it back to 3-2 to set up a grandstand finish, but the Saints hung on.

 

Concord JSC 0-1 Leichhardt Saints A

Leichhardt Saints A continued their fine form as a Sophie Lewis goal after nine minutes was enough to get the win for the travellers. She now has 11 goals to her name for the season.

 

Bill Brackenbury Cup

APIA Leichhardt JFC 0-3 Enfield Rovers

This game was a forfeit, keeping Enfield Rovers second on the table.

 

Marrickville Red Devils 2-3 Balmain DFC

This game exploded out of the gates with four goals being scored in 14 minutes. Joao Martins opened the scoring for Marrickville in the first minute before Benjamin Ferreira equalised moments later. Alexander Barnstone then put Balmain DFC in front, however Michele Majavacchi cancelled it out shortly after. On the half hour mark Barnstone’s second goal put Balmain DFC back in front and that was enough to seal the three points for the visitors.

 

LFC Sports 0-3 Strathfield FC

This game was a forfeit, leaving Strathfield FC with a much needed three points.
