Local juniors selected in Olyroos squad

Published Thu 24 Aug 2023

Former Canterbury juniors Nectar Triantis and Noah Botic has been selected in Tony Vidmar’s AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024 Qualifiers to be held in Tajikistan in September.

Triantis’ selection follows a stellar 12 months for the Hurlstone Park native, who was a mainstay of the Central Coast Mariners’ A-League Men’s Championship side, before he secured a well deserved transfer to English side Sunderland AFC.

He was also selected in the Olyroos squad for the Maurice Revello Tournament in France earlier this year, and was named Newcomer of the Year for the Mariners at their awards night.

Triantis played for Canterbury Lions as a junior in 2010 and 2011 and coached the U/8’s Division 2 side at Earlwood Wanderers in 2021.

Botic was named Young Player of the Year for Western United earlier this year, and was also the club’s Golden Boot recipient for the season, and also played for Canterbury Lions in his formative years.

The board and management of Football Canterbury extends their congratulations, and wishes Nectar & Noah all the best for the upcoming tournament.
