Marco Tilio selected for Socceroos

Published Thu 16 Mar 2023

Marco Tilio, a former Football Canterbury player, has been selected in the Socceroos squad assembling for two home matches against Ecuador.

The Socceroos will take on their South American opponent in both Sydney and Melbourne with Tilio hoping to get some game time in front of his hometown family and friends.

Tilio played for Enfield Rovers as a six-year-old before moving on to play for APIA Leichhardt JFC in 2011.

Since playing in our region, Tilio has gone on to secure some of the highest honours in the game: culminating in selection for Australia’s World Cup squad for Qatar 2022.

As well as national team selection, Tilio has won the A-League Premiership twice and the 2021 A-League Championship: starting in Melbourne City’s 3-1 victory over Sydney FC.

In total, Tilio has five appearances for the senior national team as well as 69 A-League Men’s appearances, scoring 13 goals.
