Two CDSFA players selected in Socceroos

Published Mon 19 Sep 2022

The Socceroos take on New Zealand on Thursday night and two former Football Canterbury players will be in the match day squad.

Melbourne City’s Marco Tilio already has three caps for the senior national team and will be looking to grab a fourth when Australia take on New Zealand at Suncorp Stadium.

Tilio played for Leichhardt Saints in 2010 and APIA Leichhardt Juniors in 2011 before eventually finding his way to Sydney FC and Melbourne City.

The forward has played 50 A-League Men matches and scored eight goals.

The other name to look out for on the match sheet is Tyrese Francois, who will be looking to make his debut for the Socceroos.

Francois played for Abbotsford in 2010 before heading to England where he played in the youth teams for Fulham.

While at Fulham, Francois represented the first team in both the Premier League and the Championship and is currently out on loan at HNK Gorica, who play in Croatia’s top division.

Good luck to the Socceroos and to Tilio and Francois.

You can watch the Socceroos take on New Zealand live on Ten and Ten Play. Kick-off is 8pm on Thursday 22 September.
