Strathfield Football Club (SFC) was established as Strathfield Junior Soccer Club in 1968 with one field at Strathfield Park as its home ground.

During the 1990s SFC’s home ground was moved to Airey Park as Strathfield Park underwent renovations to transform it into three great playing fields.

Its canteen started as a tent on the hill above what is now known as field three and has evolved into a fabulous canteen and storage facility.

Parents would come down during the week and mow lawns in preparation for the weekend games.

The club now proudly boasts a state-of-the-art home ground consisting of two all weather fields and one regular field at the same park with lights allowing it to host night games.

SFC has grown from a few teams into more over 1,000 registered players today.

Its first women’s team was formed in the late 1970s and now 11 women’s team squads compete in CDSFA competitions.

SFC’s senior teams are made up of parents, former club juniors and groups of friends just wanting to have fun in a great community environment, ranging from under-6 to over-45.

The club welcomes footballers of all levels of ability and will find a team for anyone who registers.

It also hosts small sided games for under-6 and under-7 players, including teams from neighbouring clubs.

They are all made to feel welcome at SFC, which also encourages its junior players to get involved in its young referee program.

They act as officials during the small sided games and assist in setting up fields, packing up fields and acting as mentors to the club’s little footballers, strengthening their sense of belonging to the community.

SFC celebrates its players each year with a grand presentation day consisting of trophy presentations, a BBQ, Gelato stand and lots of entertainment.

The club introduced an annual ‘Festival of Female Football’ in 2020, where female footballers come from all clubs to play in a gala day.

Many committee members have come and gone over the years but the football community at SFC, consisting of families young and old, continues to keep the club going strong.

Past presidents continue to return to volunteer their time in an official capacity and to generally help out, as it has become their home.
