Sydney Rangers Football Club (SRFC) is Australia’s first and Sydney’s only gay and inclusive men’s soccer club. Founded in 1997, the club’s community is dedicated to building a competitive, social and diverse club which welcomes players of all sexual orientations and from all levels of playing experience.

All six of SRFC’s squads compete in the CDSFA and in various domestic and international competitions each year. Sydney Rangers in its earliest form commenced in 1997 when Andy Francis and Ronan McChesney started out looking for players.

From late 1998 Sherif Moukkassa and David Carmichael led the club and in 2000/1 the club was named Sydney Rangers after a ballot of members was held.

On 20 December 2005 the club was incorporated, with founding committee members for incorporation Sherif Moukkassa (President), David Carmichael (Vice President), Mark Eagleson (Treasurer), Adam Balsamo (Secretary) and Neil O’Donnell.

The club’s mission is to instill pride and achieve success on and off the football field by playing fun and inclusive soccer and making a positive social contribution in the community.

SRFC players are from different backgrounds, ranging in age from 18 to 55 and while most in the club identify as gay, there are many players and officials who identify differently. Sexuality is not an obstacle to playing for Sydney Rangers FC.

Sydney Rangers FC is proud of its involvement and visibility in the LGBTQ+, football and wider community. It works closely with organisations, including community sponsor ACON, to promote positive messages of tolerance, diversity, equality, health and wellness within the club’s extended community.

SRFC is proud to be a Foundation Member of Pride Football Australia, which aims to bring together football players and supporters, regardless of their gender or sexuality, to share their love of the game and promote equality, acceptance and diversity.
