Max OddiClub: Football Club Five Dock (FC Five Dock)

Max’s involvement in football has spanned a generation.

Like many his love for the game commenced at an early age with his participation in junior football. Max excelled as a junior and youth player in every competition he participated. His love of playing continued up until recent years still as a member of his Club’s All Age and Over 35 teams. The competitiveness on the field was still there.

It is Max’s work as a volunteer and club administrator that now largely overshadows his past playing ability. However these are positions that he would gladly give anytime to help others in their participation in football.

For well over a decade Max has held senior committee positions within FC Five Dock. Significantly almost for the entire period he has served as the Club’s President.

It is as the Club’s President Max has lead the way of establishing FC Five Dock as a successful and respectful club. This is done in a most dignified manner and through leadership this is passed down to all members.

For all that attend FC Five Dock’s home park (Nield Park), be is a Saturday or Sunday, Max is a highly visible attraction. From doing the usual ground setup, managing a BBQ to acting as the Ground Marshall for senior football, he does it all.

Of recent times Max has embraced the Small Sided Football philosophy and been a mainstay at Nield Park each Saturday morning to oversee the conduct of the days play. Seeing the children enjoy participating in football simply for the fun of it is the joy out of being involved at this level – this is by far a priority.

Max’s involvement does not only limit itself to an involvement at club level.

Over numerous years Max has given his time to assisting the Association with the conduct of its operations. Through involvements on team grading committees as well as disciplinary and appeals committees, his succinct ability to analyse and make judgements that reflect common sense and betterment of football are applauded.

There are few people who garner the respect of others the way Max has the ability to.
