Published Mon 12 Apr 2021

The Grace Martin Trophy is back! There is plenty to report on with 14 goals scored across the three fixtures in the opening round of the competition.

Hurlstone Park – Balmain DFC 2-4

Balmain were on the right end of a 4-2 score line against Hurlstone Park at Ewen Park on Sunday afternoon.

A first half goal from Zoe Kalos put Balmain in the lead before Hurlstone Park restored parity before the interval.

The home side then proceeded to go 2-1 up after the break until Zoe Kalos registered her brace from the penalty spot to level the scoring.

Amanda Barrera restored Balmain’s lead at around the 70th minute mark before Zoe Zagami made sure of the points when she rifled home her side’s fourth with about 10 minutes left on the clock.

Balmain will be in action next Sunday when they play ACU meanwhile Hurlstone Park have a date with Russell Lea.

Leichhardt Saints – Russell Lea 6-0

It was all smiles in the Leichhardt Saints camp as they ran riot against Russell Lea with 6-0 the full time score.

The 2020 reigning champions were ruthless in front of goal with six different players getting their names on the scoresheet as they cruised past Russell Lea.

Next up on the fixture list for the Saints is a clash against Strathfield while Russell Lea return home to take on Hurlstone Park.

Strathfield – ACU Football Club 2-0

Strathfield proved too strong for ACU as they triumphed 2-0 at Strathfield Park on Sunday afternoon.

A slick counter attack provided us with the first match of the contest with Kat Haddad scoring in clinical fashion.

ACU continued to press for an equaliser but were eventually dealt a sucker blow after the break with Natalie Pajor doubling her side’s lead.

Strathfield will now turn their attention to a showdown with Saints while ACU will be targeting their maiden GMT victory when they meet Balmain.
